![]() If you like JRPGs and have an XBOX360 there is little reason not to play this one. We had a blast and would have loved to have a third player join us. ![]() She did all the world exploring and I took control of 2 of three characters in battles. Overall Review: I played this game through with a friend who enjoys WoW. Be sure to switch back to English before starting the final chapter - a large portion of the ending does not have English subtitles for some odd reason. Fortunately you can play the game in the original and well-acted Japanese with decently-translated English subtitles. Pros: The graphics are stunning if you are a fan of anime the in-game music fits nicely in with the genre's lineage the cut-scene piano performances of Chopin's scores are masterful the controls are simple, but by the end of the game battles can be fast, complex and furious.Ĭons: The English dubs are terrible and will likely ruin the beauty of this game for most people. Overall, this is one of the reasons why JRPG fans are buying an Xbox 360. Compared to other recent games in this current console generation, it's decent. The length is short compared to JRPGs on the PS2. You lose some abilities like some time before you move to think of your next step, but you trade that with being able to use more attacks. With the dungeon, I clocked around 35-40. Without the bonus dungeon, I got around 24 hours of gameplay. Overall Review: I don't think the bonus dungeon I went through is necessary, even though they should have made it shorter and added more dungeons instead. Some scenes at the end don't have subtitles, so I had no idea what they were saying since I had it switched to Japanese audio. At one part, you get a lot of characters to manage, but thankfully the game designers made leveling up easy at that point. The story is pretty linear, and the combat can get very easy. ![]() It did add 7-15 hours to gameplay, but remember, it's one dungeon. Also, having Japanese audio as an option was a huge bonus.Ĭons: One of the bonus dungeons is a huge grind-fest. Overall, a nice story, beautiful environments, and really nicely-made characters. It gave the characters soul that you don't see in a lot of other games. The eyes of the characters can be downright creepy because of how they grab your attention when they look at the screen. I wouldn't recommend it at the launch price, but I can recommend it at the current price.
